About

I am a Catholic wife and mother who is a self-obsessed sinner in desperate need of redemption.  As a passionate convert to the Faith, I love to delve into the beauty and truth found in Catholic spiritual traditions. Years ago, I began to notice a stark contrast between what I was reading and what I was witnessing all around me. In a world in which virtually every convenience can be found at the tips of our fingers, how could joy be scarcer than ever? To understand this paradox, I immersed myself in these words of Christ: “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit” (John 12:24). My study led me to a new appreciation for the art of sacrifice – the narrow path trodden by saint after saint toward holiness, happiness, and eternal reward. My latest book, The Lost Art of Sacrifice (Sophia Institute Press 2021), is my attempt to share what I’ve learned, not from the perspective of a theologian, but from that of a wife and a mother, struggling daily with a temptation toward self-gratification.

I have blogged about sacrifice and spiritual reading for the past 10 years. I am also the author of How to Read Your Way to Heaven: A Spiritual Reading Program for the Worst of Sinners, the Greatest of Saints, and Everyone in Between (Sophia Institute Press 2017). My commentary has been featured and shared on National Catholic Register, Catholic Exchange and Big Pulpit, and I have contributed to study and leaders’ guides for The Augustine Institute, which “serves the formation of Catholics for the New Evangelization.” Additionally, I have been a guest on EWTN Live, EWTN Bookmark, The Busted Halo Show, The Son Rise Morning Show, EWTN Morning Glory and On Call with Wendy Wiese, among others.
